Yellow

Diarylide Yellow: There are more than 20 pigments in this group but only the following pigments are most commonly used.
  • PY 12 – (AAA type) – used for ink application
  • PY 13 – (AAMX type) - used for ink and coating application
  • PY 14 – (AAOT type) – available in two forms
    • Transparent form used for ink application
    • Opaque form used for plastic application
  • PY 17 – (AAOA type) - used for ink application
  • PY 83 – (HR type) – available in two forms
    • Transparent form used for ink application
    • Opaque form used for plastic application
Hansa Yellow-Monoazo Yellow: Like diarylide yellow this group also has several pigments, but only few important pigments are listed here. Pigments in this group are commonly used in aqueous paint industry.
Some pros:
  • excellent alkali resistance
  • inorganic lead free replacement & no darkening
  • offers high tint strength and brighter chroma
Some cons:
  • low opacity – to mask low opacity higher amounts TiO2 required
  • low exterior durability

Benzimidazolone Yellow: This pigment is relatively new, but very popular for plastic, PVC, and coating applications because of its excellent light fastness and heat, solvent & chemical resistance in masstone.

Disazo Yellow: This pigment offers excellent light fastness, heat, solvent & chemical resistance in masstone with wide range of end applications such as textile printing, ink, plastic and coatings.

Isoindolinone Yellow: This pigment is mainly used for high performance plastic, automotive paints and man made fiber.

Quinophthalone Yellow: This is a green shade, high performance yellow used for paint and plastics with excellent light fastness, and heat, solvent & chemical resistance in masstone.
